Cessna F172H Skyhawk EI-AEX

EI-AEX is a 1967 Reims-built F172H with a character and history that few aircraft of its generation can match. Originally delivered by Northair in the UK — its dealer sticker still present in the baggage area — the aircraft spent the majority of its life registered as G-AVIC before coming to Ireland, where it has been in long-term syndicate ownership at Cork. It has been flown regularly overwater and cross-country, doing exactly what a Skyhawk is supposed to do, reliably and without drama.

The airframe stands at 9,270 hours total time, maintained exclusively by Waterford Aircraft Maintenance to full Part-ML standard, with complete records and full expenditure history available from syndicate formation. Those who know early 172s will appreciate the non-cuffed leading edge of the H model — a flying characteristic that has its advocates, and EI-AEX's owners among them.

Power comes from a Continental O-300-D with 1,556 hours since major overhaul, swinging a McCauley 1C172EM7653 propeller showing 346 hours since overhaul. The avionics are practical and current: an ICOM IC-A220T 8.33 kHz comm, Narco MK12D Nav/Com with ILS indicator, Narco AT150 Mode C transponder, Sigtronics SPA-400 four-place intercom, and a new artificial horizon installed December 2025. A straightforward, workable panel with nothing superfluous.

Cosmetically the aircraft presents well, with a blue and white vinyl wrap applied November 2025, control surfaces stripped and repainted June 2025, a new front windshield, and blue vinyl interior in good condition. The last 100-hour, Annual and ARC was completed 18th June 2025.
