When Cessna restarted the 172/182/206 production after halting aircraft output in 1986, they took a very careful look at what the market wanted. They needed to get rid of pilot error-prone carburettor heat application and went with all fuel-injected engines. They had to improve corrosion-proofing, soundproofing and cabin fit-outs. Instrument panels no longer were suspended metal panels with plastic facias, they needed to be clean-cut aluminium textured panels. King Avionics packages with autopilots, standardised the fleet. This is why when you open the door of an aircraft like EI-MCF you get instant reassurance that the world has moved on.
Cessna expected to sell three of the 160 horsepower 172R models, for every 180 horsepower 172SP model, for a good reason. They are identical Lycoming IO-360-L2A engines, but by lowering the take-off rpm by 300 rpm using a different propeller they could make generous savings on the fuel burn and lower the noise footprint of the aircraft. In the typical role for the Cessna 172, the upsides of this were gladly appreciated. When you fly EI-MCF you will see the slightly coarser pitch propeller makes for a fast aircraft in the cruise.
EI-MCF is a 1999 Cessna 172R model maintained in a Part 145 and was operated on AOC flights. The aircraft is for sale as part of a fleet change at the operating company and is ready to fly away today. We can assist, at cost, with an export C of A for non EASA countries or for the aircraft to take up American registration markings for export. The airframe has 7449hrs TTAF, the engine was overhauled by PMM who do excellent work and the engine has 673hrs SMOH at April 2022. The propeller has 928hrs SPOH in May 2021. When we say the paperwork for the NFC fleet aeroplanes is excellent, to put that in context the maintenance tracking sheet is 56 pages long! Any aeroplane we have ever sold for NFC was impossible to fault in this regard. The aircraft has been operated on Cessna Progressive Care and will come with a new ARC, as it falls due shortly.
The paint has been standardised to a school colour scheme, white with a light blue tail and striping. The OEM leather interior shows well and has all the restart improvements in seats, inertia reel shoulder harnesses and ventilation. The panel has:
Maintenance wise there were no savings made, Skytech starter, Concorde Battery and Plane Power Alternator were al fitted to the aircraft. The Trig has been upgraded to ADSB out with a GPS position source. This will be a much missed aeroplane by instructors and students alike, and we know it will give great service to the next operator.
