The JetPROP DL is a standout in the PA-46 turbine conversion world — a proven upgrade built on one of general aviation’s most respected airframes and powered by one of its most reliable engines. Originally developed in the 1990s, the JetPROP conversion was created by JetPROP LLC in collaboration with Rocket Engineering, the team behind the ROCKET and MISSILE Mooney upgrades. Their goal was clear: transform the piston-powered Piper Malibu and Mirage into turbine-class performers without sacrificing the comfort or handling pilots loved.
The early DLX conversions used the PT6A-34 engine, but when that model was discontinued, the JetPROP DL emerged as a more accessible and efficient alternative using the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-21. This engine, with a long service history in aircraft like the Beechcraft King Air C90, is renowned for its durability, ease of maintenance, and broad parts availability — with thousands still in active use around the world. Operators value it for its straightforward support network and predictable operating costs, often citing it as a “sweet spot” in terms of value, performance, and reliability.
The DL conversion includes a complete firewall-forward overhaul: dual batteries under the forward cabin seats, revised engine instrumentation and controls, a redesigned forward header tank, and a four-blade reversible propeller. Climb performance is vastly improved, high-altitude cruising becomes a reality, and maintenance intervals are simplified thanks to turbine reliability. Despite the performance upgrade, the aircraft retains the comfort, layout, and cabin space of the original Malibu/Mirage — making it a favorite among owner-pilots who want turbine capability without turbine complexity.
N14EF is a 1988 model year aircraft first flown in 1989, and was upgraded with the Rocket Engineering STC in October 2004 which fitted a new 550shp PT6A-21 engine. The airframe has 4720hrs TTAF and the engine and prop have just 237hrs since overhaul. The aircraft has an extensively upgraded panel and numerous STC modifications. The next annual is due 31st December 2025, and there is an option to purchase a 50% share in the aircraft based at Fairoaks near London.
Whether you’re upgrading from a piston PA-46 or entering the turbine class for the first time, the JetPROP DL offers a compelling blend of proven engineering, pilot-focused performance, and long-term serviceability.
